A Night With Cinderella

“He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” – Malachi 4:6

This was one of the verses that was the at the very heart of what we were trying to accomplish with the Daddy/Daughter purity ball held Saturday, Oct. 23rd. I have to tell you, to see and experience what I had the opportunity to see with the dads loving and leading their daughters through that evening was powerful to say the least. I don’t have the privilege of having a daughter yet but one thing I can say for sure, there is a powerful bond between a dad and his daughter(s). In fact, a major driving force for purity in a girl’s life is the influence of her dad. A dad that leads, lives and teaches purity to his little girl sets a tremendous course for her in regard to what she seeks out of the male relationships in her life. As the men of Grace Community, it is our desire to lead our daughters in purity of heart and life and to raise generations of daughters who will have clean hands and a pure heart.

The evening was amazing as we packed over 95 people into the Timber Dome Lodge in Solon. It was a great night of dinner, dancing and teaching as Greg Gilbaugh and his daughter Amy taught us some dance steps that coordinated with principles of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. Amy then spoke to the hearts of the girls about being prepared for their King (Jesus) by having clean hands and a pure heart. We thank Greg and Amy for the time and wisdom that they shared with us.

There were many highlights to the evening, but one of those highlights was to see the dads and daughters all dressed up and dancing to “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman and “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle. Another great sight to behold was all the dads dancing to “YMCA” and watching John Weih teach everyone the lawnmower dance.

One of the special moments of the whole event was having the dads and daughters take pictures together and decorate cards that would be later mailed to the girls the following week. Each dad had the opportunity to write a letter of blessing to his daughter in the card. Men, those letters will be cherished for a lifetime!

Special thanks goes to Terri Laures and the Daughters of the King group for helping us pull together the decorations, Dostal Catering for the great food, and the city of Solon for allowing us to use the Timber Dome Lodge.

Take time to view the slides show of the event!
