Our ultimate goal of the equipping team is to effectively resource the body of Grace Community with an understanding of what missions is and how all believers are to be part of it. We do this through sponsoring and championing opportunities like: Perspectives, Urbana, and other conferences or speakers as we are able. Our desire is that people understand their God-given role and responsibility to the Great Commission both locally and beyond. (Mt 28:18-20) We seek to gather viable options to help us further the church’s understanding of missions, and upon approval of the Grace Community Elder Team we either host, promote, coordinate, or develop those plans accordingly.
We also seek to coordinate with Every Ethne’s two other Core Teams: The Outreach Team and The Sending Team. With both of these teams we seek to assist them through proper promotion of church wide ministry involvement through Missions Central located in the foyer.
As you consider that a vast majority of missionaries on the field today were influenced and made aware of the need through equipping events like those mentioned above, our task is seen for what it is: CRITICAL! When you also begin to take into account the scores of people who now have a vibrant relationship with Christ because they were properly equipped for the task at hand, our role is seen as ESSENTIAL! For us to be effective in our mandate as a church to go into all the world with the gospel– this team will be a lynch pin in that process. We hope you can join us!
What is my commitment?
Most of our work comes in concentrated segments of time when we are promoting, preparing for, or offering those events because the team largely operates by maximizing educational tools like those mentioned above. However, we also seek to adequately educate people of the many ongoing options for involvement both in the Outreach Team as well as the Sending Team. Hence, while our most intense work is “seasonal,” we still meet at least monthly to discuss, plan for future events, and pray.
