Belize (formerly known as British Honduras) is located on the Caribbean Sea bordered by Guatemala and Mexico. English is the official language with Spanish being spoken also.
Where: Depart from Moline to Camp Kindred near the city of Belmopan
Who: Bill and Karen Myers lead a faith family in Muscatine. After going through the book “Radical” together, the group decided to put things into practice and take a short-term trip together. They are inviting others from Grace to join them to be stretched and live out a life of giving to others outside our culture. There will be a few others from Utah & Colorado joining the group.
What: The group will be lead by long time missionary Clair Longuevan of Avant Ministries (www.avantministires.org). Tasks will include building playground equipment for the camp, repairs to two local churches, painting, leading an after school program for children, and local outreach. Sightseeing and recreation will be built into the trip.
Accommodations: The group will be staying in cabins located on the camp. Some cabins allow for couples to stay together. An upgrade to a local bed and breakfast is available for an extra $500 per couples.
Cost: $1795 per person, deadline is June 1. All registration and monies will be through Avant Ministries as this is not a Grace Community Church short-term trip.
Further questions can be answered by contacting Bill or Karen Myers at 563-264-3554, or by e-mail at kbmyers@machlink.com. An informational booklet with more details about Belize and the trip is available at Missions Central.
