The mission of the Crisis center is to provide basic emotional and materials support through trained volunteers and staff in an accessible, non-judgmental, and caring environment. The Crisis Center responds immediately, effectively and compassionately to all residents of Johnson County.
Opportunities:
• Crisis Intervention – volunteers listen, help clarify problems and generate options for those facing crisis. Services are offered to clients primarily by telephone via their hotline, but also face-to-face at the Crisis Center. Training is provided.
• Food Bank & Emergency Assistance – volunteers help people who are dealing with hunger or financial concerns. Opportunities exit to distribute food, conduct interviews with clients, accept donations, pack food bags, restocking shelves and breaking down bulk donations.
Volunteer do have to go through a screening process that includes:

2) Volunteer interview
3) Background check.
