Salvation Army
1116 Gilbert Court, Iowa City
The Salvation Army was founded by William Booth and his wife Catherine in 1852. His desire was to win the lost in England to Christ. He would walk the streets of London preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the homeless, hungry, and destitute. Their mission is based on the Bible and motivated by God’s love. They want to preach of Jesus and meet human needs in HIS name without discrimination. This local branch of the organization reaches out to the Iowa City Community in many ways.
